GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP
Mary Mother of the Church Parish
85 Kirkbridge Drive, Winnipeg
This group is drop-in. No registration required. |
The goals of the Grief Support Group are to be a compassionate
presence, walking alongside each other to alleviate the pain
of grief and reduce feelings of isolation.
Since grieving is an isolating process, having companionship
on the journey makes it more manageable.
Loss is never easy, but learning about the normal, necessary process of grief and mourning can help. At the Center for Loss and Life Transition, it’s our mission to support grieving people and grief caregivers.
“Someone you love has died. In your heart, you have come to know your deepest pain. From my own experiences with loss as well as those of the thousands of people I have counseled over the years, I have learned that we cannot go around the pain of our grief. Instead, we must learn to embrace and express it. This is hard but absolutely necessary work.” Dr. Alan Wolfelt |
- Learn about grief and mourning stages, what is normal, tips for the early days/months, and how to cope with the pain.
- Attend a seminar in bereavement care training to “companion” people in grief from Dr. Alan Wolfelt, a well respected bereavement clinician.
